Carbon Fiber Product Care & Maintenance
Thank you for choosing Zoro Composites.
Each Zoro Composites product is designed to combine advanced materials with custom artistry. Our carbon fiber and forged carbon parts often feature vibrant metallic or reflective flakes — including purple, blue, green, gold, silver, pink, and red — that give every piece its unique, high-end appearance. To maintain their depth, color, and finish, please follow the care guidelines below.
General Care
-
Clean regularly using a soft, clean microfiber cloth and a mild soap-and-water solution.
-
Avoid all harsh chemicals, alcohol-based products, and abrasive pads, as these can dull the resin or damage the flake layer.
-
Always dry the product completely after cleaning to prevent water spots and mineral deposits.
-
Remove fingerprints, oils, or other contaminants promptly to preserve the clear gloss and clarity of the carbon weave or forged surface.
Sunlight, Heat, and UV Exposure
-
Carbon fiber and forged carbon products—especially those with colored metallic flakes—are sensitive to prolonged UV and heat exposure.
-
Colors such as purple, blue, green, pink, red, and gold are produced through metallic or pearlescent finishes that can gradually fade to a silver or neutral tone when left in direct sunlight for extended periods.
-
This effect is caused by UV breakdown of the pigment layer within the resin and is purely cosmetic.
-
To minimize fading:
-
Avoid long-term outdoor exposure or high-heat environments.
-
Use protective covers whenever possible.
-
Park vehicles in shaded areas or indoors when not in use.
-
Apply a UV-protective ceramic coating or sealant regularly.
-
-
Note: Flake fading, color loss, or silvering from UV exposure is considered normal wear and not covered under warranty.
Protection and Coating
-
For best results, apply a professional-grade ceramic coating designed for carbon fiber or automotive clear coat.
-
Ceramic coating adds a thin, invisible layer of UV resistance and helps repel dirt, fingerprints, and oxidation.
-
It can also make cleaning easier and preserve the visual clarity of the weave or forged finish.
-
Reapply every 6–12 months depending on exposure and use.
-
Avoid waxes containing abrasives or dyes, as these may alter the surface sheen.
Storage and Handling
-
Handle all carbon fiber and forged carbon components with care to avoid scratches or resin chips.
-
Do not place heavy objects on top of finished surfaces.
-
Do not use adhesive tape, stickers, or Velcro directly on the resin surface, as removal can lift the clear coat.
-
When storing or shipping, wrap the product in soft microfiber or foam to prevent scuffs and direct friction.
-
Store in a cool, dry, shaded area away from sunlight or extreme temperature swings.
Warranty Disclaimer
-
Carbon fiber and forged carbon components may show natural surface variations over time.
-
Fading, silvering, or dulling of colored flakes (purple, blue, green, gold, red, pink, etc.) due to UV or heat exposure is a normal cosmetic change and not covered under warranty.
-
Zoro Composites is not responsible for damage caused by improper cleaning, chemical exposure, installation error, or misuse.
-
All products are cosmetic and performance pieces intended for enthusiasts who understand and maintain composite finishes appropriately.
